Abt 1920, family stories say Jan is given a deed to a farm in the state of New York by his employer in New Jersey.  Jan removes his family from New Jersey and relocates them to the farm in Fairfield, Herkimer, New York.

Family stories say Jan acquired the deed as a result of an argument between his employers.  His employers had jointly bought a farm in New York and began disputing.  Prior to this dispute, Jan was asked to go to NY and take care of the farm.  To end the dispute, Jan was given the deed and no more was said or heard about it.

11 Feb 1964, Tragedy at the farm on Tuesday, Feb 11, 1964 .  A big fire destroyed the barn and silo (pictured above).

Unortunately, there has been several fires on this farm, with the families loosing all there belongings, such tragedies.  The farm has gone through many transformations but the house still remains to this day.

There has been many family gatherings at the farm through the years.  These are happy memories.

I will never forget Dzadzi (Jan) chasing us kids (during our play) with his cane, playfully, as we would run by him.

The Passing of a Loved One...

13 May 1977, Jan passed away in Little Falls, Herkimer, New York.  He was buried in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer, Herkimer, New York beside his beloved “Maggie.”  I was young but attended his funeral.  There was a gathering at his daughter, Helen’s, home afterward.  A family member come from Poland to attend, I think it was a sister.
